Giovanni Ospitali (Bologna 1927) - Tuscan Landscape. Watercolor on cardboard, signed lower left with authentication on the back. Ospitali was born in Marzabotto (Bologna) in 1927 and lives and works in Florence. He began painting in Bologna under Professor Giuseppe Rivali, art critic of Avvenire d'Italia, who noted his particular gift for watercolor and encouraged him to specialize in the medium. In 1949 he moved to Florence, refining his technique in the city's artistic circles while remaining faithful to his own themes and style. Between 1950 and 1960 his production was absorbed almost entirely by foreign markets, principally the United States and Canada, and from 1960 he also worked in oil while continuing to favor watercolor.
