Italian Louis XV Walnut Bedside Cabinet with Starburst Top
An Italian Louis XV bedside cabinet in walnut, its shaped top veneered in a radiating starburst pattern, above a frieze drawer and a paneled door, the case raised on cabriole legs over a scalloped apron. The starburst top is the piece's quiet showpiece, rewarding the downward glance a bedside table actually receives, and the walnut throughout has been polished to a deep, glossy patina. Enclosed bedside cabinets are always more useful than open tables, offering a drawer for small things and cupboard space below. It serves equally well beside a bed, next to an armchair, or as a small cabinet in a powder room. Sound and usable, with wear consistent with age.
