19th Century French Arras Wrought Iron Garden Table
A 19th century French wrought iron garden table from Arras, the northern French center whose forges produced the finest iron garden furniture of the period. Arras pieces are distinguished by their hand-wrought construction and elegant proportions, and are increasingly identified and collected by name. The rectangular top and gracefully worked base show the smith's hand throughout, with the slight irregularities that separate true wrought iron from later cast reproductions. A practical scale for a terrace, balcony, or garden room, it serves comfortably as a tea table, drinks table, or intimate dining surface. The iron carries an old weathered surface with wear consistent with age, and the table remains sturdy and ready for continued use.
