19th Century French Walnut Sofa
A 19th century French walnut sofa of impressive scale, nearly six feet wide, with the sculptural frame and confident carving that distinguish good French seating of the period. The walnut shows rich color and figure, framing the upholstered back and seat with gracefully shaped rails and supports. Sofas of this vintage offer proportions rarely found in modern production: a generous seat with an upright, conversational posture that suits formal living rooms, entrance halls, and bedroom seating areas alike. The frame presents well as-is, or the sofa can be reupholstered in a client's fabric to integrate seamlessly into a scheme. An adaptable, characterful piece with wear consistent with age and use.
