A pair of large English cast-stone garden urns, circa 1980s. The 1980s saw significant production of quality cast-stone garden ornament in England, with specialist workshops supplying pieces to the country house and formal garden market. These urns are generously scaled — the large format providing the visual weight necessary to anchor a terrace, frame a garden entrance, or terminate a formal walk with authority. The cast-stone construction has allowed the pieces to develop the characteristic weathered surface of established garden stonework over four decades of outdoor placement, the aggregate texture now softened by lichen and moss. The urns are matched in form and dimension throughout. Both are structurally sound. Offered as a pair.
