Born in France during the 19th century, this exquisite still-life painting depicts an abundance of mouth-watering fruits presented in a wicker basket and a plate, casually displayed on the top of a table or a credenza. The neutral color of the background allows the orange, black, yellow, purple, red and green tones of the fruits to stand out beautifully. We are left to admire the grapes, pears, prunes and peaches, accented by the delicate presence of flowers and a butterfly.
