A pair of nineteenth-century Porcelaine de Paris cachepots with hand-painted bird and floral decoration. Each cachepot presents a tapering circular body painted with birds perched on flowering branches with pink blooms — a motif drawn from the naturalistic ornamental tradition that flourished in French porcelain throughout the nineteenth century. Gilt and black accents frame the painted reserves, while ring pulls on each side provide the decorative handles characteristic of the cachepot form. Porcelaine de Paris, produced in numerous workshops throughout the capital, was prized for the quality of its white ground and the refinement of its painted ornament. Offered as a pair.
