A French Napoléon III period carved walnut antique long case clock from the mid-19th century, with bonnet top, farming scene and scrolling motifs. Created in France at the beginning of Emperor Napoléon III's reign, this walnut grandfather clock features a rectangular bonnet top securing an enameled face surrounded by brass ornaments: two farmers with horses, are plowing fields while in the background, a humble village is depicted. The narrow belly, carved with shells and scrolls, opens up to reveal the pendulum (the clock is not currently in working condition) while the ensemble is resting on a square carved base with scalloped apron and scrolling feet. With its slender silhouette and delicate décor, this French Napoléon III walnut clock circa 1850 will bring an undeniable touch of elegance to any home, perhaps placed in a living room, foyer or hallway.
