Italian Inlaid Walnut Rolo Center Table, 19th Century
A lovely 19th century Italian round table in walnut from Rolo, the Emilian town whose cabinetmakers were renowned for exceptional inlaid furniture; a cartouche beneath the top still bears the legible inscription 'ROLO EMILIA.' The elaborate marquetry of small contrasting wood pieces covers the entire table, the round top centered by a refined checkerboard pattern, all raised on a turned central column with tripod base. Its compact footprint makes it an ideal accent for a living room, entrance, or bedroom, where the virtuoso inlay rewards close attention. The table is in good condition, with slight signs of wear normal for its age, and its documented Rolo origin adds genuine collector interest.
