Italian Six-Light Maria Theresa Crystal Chandelier, circa 1950
An Italian cut-glass chandelier in the Maria Theresa style, circa 1950, with six candle arms carrying cut bobeches and prisms. The frame's arched cartouches are faced in glass in the classic Maria Theresa manner and hung with faceted drops and beaded swags, so the whole silhouette reads as light and sparkle rather than metal. It shows the graceful basket profile that makes these fixtures so effective in a dining room, stair hall, or bedroom. It is electrified and its dressing of drops is full, with wear consistent with age and use.
