Italian Walnut Buffet with Arched Panel Door, 18th Century
An Italian walnut buffet, 18th century, of pleasingly compact scale at 34 inches wide. A single frieze drawer sits above a door with a shaped, arched panel, the case framed by molded stiles and raised on bun feet. The walnut has developed a deep, warm patina across its molded surfaces, and the original-style hardware punctuates the front handsomely. Small period buffets are among the most useful of all antiques: as a bedside cabinet of generous scale, an entry piece, a bathroom vanity conversion, or side service in a dining room.
