A mahogany side table with a pierced brass gallery running around its polished top, a full-width drawer in the beaded frieze, and round fluted tapered legs in the Louis XVI taste. The gallery, pierced with a delicate repeating motif, gives the table the finished elegance of a tray table while keeping lamps and objects securely corralled. Tables of this scale are endlessly useful: beside a sofa or armchair, at a bedside, or as a lamp table in a hallway. The mahogany has aged to a deep, even color with excellent figure across the top. The drawer runs properly and the table stands firm, with wear consistent with age and use.
