Piedmontese Carved Walnut Sideboard, Second Half 17th Century
Piedmontese sideboard from the second half of the 17th century, a solid and compact piece made of walnut with a warm, slightly amber finish typical of Subalpine production of the period. The structure, with double doors, is defined by essential lines that reflect a fully 17th‑century aesthetic, focused on functionality and restrained decoration.
The front is dominated by two large carved panels, each decorated with a radiating star motif, engraved with deep grooves that create a strong sculptural effect.
The door frames are marked by simple, geometric bands, while the sides feature smooth panels framed by mouldings. The full, slightly protruding base rests on shaped bracket feet typical of the period.
On the back and inside, hand‑forged wrought‑iron elements are preserved — hinges and locks with visible hammered rivets. The top, made from a single wide board, shows the natural patina acquired over time.
