Set of Four 19th Century French Wrought Iron Garden Chairs
A 19th century French wrought iron garden suite comprising two armchairs and two side chairs, finished in weathered white paint. The set displays the graceful scrollwork and hand-forged construction of French garden furniture from the period, with the lightness of line that makes antique iron seating so much more elegant than modern reproductions. Suites that survive together are increasingly hard to find, and the armchair-and-side-chair combination offers useful flexibility, grouped around a garden table, split between a terrace and a balcony, or used as occasional seating in a conservatory. The old painted surface has softened attractively with age and outdoor exposure. The set remains sturdy and serviceable, with wear consistent with age and use.
