Set of Six Swedish 1890s Painted Wood Dining Room Side Chairs with Black Fabric

A set of six Swedish painted wood dining room side chairs from the late 19th century, with carved splats, tapering legs and black upholstery. Created in Sweden during the last decade of the 19th century, each of this set of six painted chairs features a pierced back topped with a curving rail securing a carved splat. The rectangular seat is covered with a black fabric adorned with discreet rose motifs. Each chair is raised on four legs, fluted and tapering in the front and saber in the back. An H-Form stretcher and side stretcher in the back strengthen the ensemble. The chairs are painted in a soft color typical of the Swedish taste for light palettes, aiming at brightening the rooms during the dark winters of Scandinavia. With their clean lines and complimenting colors, this set of six side chairs circa 1890 will make for a lovely addition to any home, particularly placed in a dining room or breakfast area.
