An exceptional set of twelve period Rococo chairs, made circa 1760 in Lindome, the famed chairmaking district outside Gothenburg. Period sets of this size are extraordinarily rare survivals; assembling twelve matched 18th century Swedish chairs today is practically impossible, which makes an intact set a genuine event. The chairs display the gently curved backs and cabriole-influenced legs of the Swedish Rococo, rendered with the region's characteristic restraint. They have been sympathetically repainted in a soft bluish grey and newly covered in linen, presenting beautifully and ready for immediate use around a large dining table. For a designer furnishing a serious dining room, this set offers provenance, uniformity, and scale in one stroke. Wear is consistent with age.
