A Swedish painted wood sideboard from the late 19th century, with two drawers, two doors, canted side posts and tapered legs. Born in Sweden in the last decade of the 19th century, this painted sideboard features a rectangular top with canted corners in the front, sitting above two drawers, each opening thanks to a round wooden knob. Two doors below, each adorned with a frame accented with floral motifs in the corners and diamond-shaped escutcheons, make up the façade. They are flanked with canted and fluted side posts. The sideboard is raised on four slender tapered legs, the front ones being angled and decorated with exquisite floral capitals. The ensemble is painted in a soft color typical of the Scandinavian taste for light palettes, aiming at brightening the homes during the long winters of Sweden. With its clean, linear silhouette and discreet décor, this Swedish painted sideboard circa 1890 will bring an elegant touch to any home.
