An antique Swedish secretary bureau dating to circa 1830–1850, crafted from solid oak and originating from central Sweden. The restrained exterior is finished in black, giving the piece the appearance of a classic chest of drawers.
The upper drawer cleverly conceals a functional writing desk. When pulled forward, the front opens to reveal a writing surface and a fitted pale blue interior with eight small drawers of varying sizes, each accented with brass knobs. Below are two generously proportioned drawers fitted with brass handles, providing substantial storage.
The bureau retains its original locks, hinges, and writing-flap mechanism, along with one key. Classic tapered legs complete the understated design. The contrast between the black exterior and pale blue fitted interior gives this practical early 19th-century Swedish piece a particularly distinctive character.
