Swedish Chest of Drawers, circa 1800
A Swedish chest of drawers, circa 1800, in a rare small scale, in blue-green paint with a carved frieze drawer flanked by rosettes. Diminutive case pieces from this date are genuinely hard to find and endlessly useful: perfectly scaled for bedside duty, a powder room, or a small entry where storage is wanted without visual weight. The painted surface has softened with age, worn gently at the edges, with brass escutcheons and bracket feet completing the composition. Its principal drawers remain practical for daily service, and its footprint slips easily into rooms where larger case pieces cannot go. A charming and versatile piece with wear consistent with its considerable age.
