A Swedish Gustavian chest of three graduated drawers in painted pine, with a warm coral-red painted case and a pale, weathered cream top. The scraped surface reveals layers of paint history and the pine grain beneath, giving the piece a soft, mellow patina.
The molded top sits above a finely carved dentil frieze, a hallmark of the Gustavian style. Reeded corner stiles frame the three long drawers, each fitted with oval pressed-brass bail pulls and matching keyhole escutcheons; The chest stands on square tapered legs with fluted detailing.
The back shows hand-planed pine boards with age-related shrinkage and cracks, consistent with its age. Its simple neoclassical lines and relaxed, time-worn finish make it equally at home in a traditional interior or a more pared-back modern space, as a bedroom chest, entry piece, or living room console.
