A Swedish round table with frieze drawers, circa 1810, combining the clean geometry of the late Gustavian period with unusual practicality. The generous round top sits above a straight apron fitted with drawers, offering concealed storage rarely found in round tables of this date. Raised on elegantly simple legs, the table carries the restrained neoclassical character that makes early Swedish furniture so adaptable, equally at home as a center table in an entry, a breakfast table, or a lamp table beside a sofa. Its early date places it in the most desirable period of Swedish furniture making. The surface carries an aged patina with wear consistent with two centuries of use.
