This elegant Swedish bureau dates to the mid-19th century and retains its original painted surface in a soft white tone, beautifully aged with an authentic patina. The façade is distinguished by finely milled horizontal detailing across the drawer fronts, complemented by chamfered corners accented with carved strip decoration. Beneath the writing surface, decorative dentil carving adds architectural depth and balance.
When opened, the bureau reveals a striking original black-painted interior, richly patinated through time. The interior is fitted with nine small drawers and a central storage compartment concealed behind a door, offering both function and visual rhythm. All interior drawers retain their original wooden knobs.
The lower section features larger drawers fitted with original brass handles, providing generous storage. The bureau stands on classic tapered legs that narrow gracefully toward the base, lending stability and refined proportion. Original working locks remain intact, and three keys are included. A timeless example of Swedish craftsmanship from circa 1840–1860, combining utility, restraint, and quiet decorative presence.
