19th Century Swedish Painted Pine Blanket Chest
19th century Swedish painted pine blanket chest circa 1850.
Good quality hand painted Scandinavian chest with a slight domed top.
Hand painted in a muted yellow wash, which always the grain of the pine to show through. Later hand painted with the name ‘bertha’ on the front. Slight sarcophagus shape, complete with original blackened strap work, carrying handles and hinges. Lock is present, but no key. Lid opens to reveal plenty of storage, with the standard lidded candle box and shallow shelf.
