French 1860s Still-Life Painting by Agénorie Monique Laurenceau in Gilt Frame - JAA

A French still-life painting by Agénorie Monique Laurenceau (1830-1907) from the second half of the 19th century, set inside a carved giltwood frame. This exquisite French still-life painting features the sustenance prepared either for a breakfast or a "goûter" (the traditional 4 o'clock snack). Depicted on a dark background, a copper tea pot, mouthwatering grapes, pears, honey and a cake are organized in a perfect arrangement. The light, coming from the left side of the composition, bathes the scene in an almost contemplative atmosphere. Agénorie Monique Laurenceau studied under Alphonse Muraton and Joseph Suchet. She exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1864 to 1879. She was known for her Genre scenes, landscapes, flowers and still lives. Set inside a lovely giltwood carved frame, this French still-life painting circa 1860 will bring a touch of elegance to any home.
