A French Provençale carved walnut farinerio decorative box from the 19th century with floral motifs. This petite French box, called a fariniero, was intended to be used to coat fish, particularly sardines, with flour (farine means flour in French) before frying it. Presenting an arching crest topped with a medallion, the box is adorned with a wicker basket with flowers, delicately hand carved on the sliding door. The lower section of the box is adorned with a horizontal floral depiction that gives a perfect conclusion to the ensemble. With its small proportions and lovely carved walnut decor, this 19th century French farinerio will be a lovely decorative accent in any room.
