Italian Louis Philippe Walnut Three-Door Sideboard, Mid-19th Century
An Italian Louis Philippe sideboard in walnut, mid-19th century, with three paneled doors faced in bookmatched flame veneers beneath three frieze drawers, the whole raised on block feet. The radiating figure of the matched walnut panels is the showpiece here, giving the long facade rhythm and warmth in the best Louis Philippe manner, where the wood itself is the ornament. At just under six feet wide with a practical serving top, it anchors a dining room wall while swallowing linens, china, and barware behind its doors. The restrained lines let it work in contemporary rooms as easily as traditional ones. Doors and drawers operate properly, with a mellow patina and wear consistent with age.
