A petite Italian painted ceramic desk set from the mid-19th century, with two floral containers for ink and sand. Born in Italy during the second half of the 19th century, this lovely desk set features a ceramic basket with pierced edges and large handle, serving as a support to two small lidded boxes adorned with painted flowers. Once removed, the lids reveal petite white containers dedicated to the ink and sand, which was used before the creation of blotting paper, to absorb the wet ink. With its graceful lines and delicate décor, this petite Italian desk set circa 1860, will bring a touch of elegance to any writing table.
