Pair of Swedish Neoclassical Black Painted Chests of Drawers, 20th Century
A handsome pair of Swedish Neoclassical chests of drawers featuring a dark black painted finish with warm, naturally worn edges and brass hardware. Each chest is fitted with three graduated drawers, the upper drawer decorated with a carved Greek key motif that gives the otherwise restrained design a strong architectural character.
Circular brass pulls and traditional key escutcheons provide a warm contrast against the dark painted surfaces. The chests rest on short tapered feet and retain an attractive aged patina with visible wear consistent with their decorative character.
With their clean proportions, graphic black finish, and classical detailing, the pair would work particularly well as bedside chests, flanking pieces in a living room, or as storage in a sophisticated traditional or contemporary interior.
